C-36 "Red 1" – A Unique Classic with a Merlin Engine
The C-36 "Red 1" is a historic aircraft of the EKW C-3603 type, meticulously restored and equipped with a powerful Rolls-Royce Merlin 500 engine. Originally built with a Hispano-Suiza engine, sourcing spare parts proved challenging, leading to this special conversion – a one-of-a-kind project that combines engineering history and passion.
After years of planning and precise craftsmanship, the "Red 1" was successfully test-flown for the first time in 2020 and returned to the skies in June 2021. With its striking red paintwork, the distinctive roar of its Merlin engine, and impressive flight performance, it has become a true highlight at airshows – a flying work of art that keeps Swiss aviation history alive.
The "Red 1" is for sale.
For serious buyers, a viewing at the airfield can be arranged upon request.
The aircraft is currently located in Switzerland.
